François Armand is co-founder of Normation and lead developer of Rudder, an open source automation solution for IT infrastructure configuration management and audit.

As a Java expert mid-2000, working for an open source consultancy company, François often had to overcome the limitations and constraints the Java language imposes, leaving painful memories of several challenging implementations. Even so, he is a passionate advocate for the JVM platform and its huge ecosystem. During this period, François has specialised in identity management, LDAP directories and IT security; both in terms of technical implementation, business analysis and service management.

François began using Scala in 2006 and perhaps, due to post-traumatic scholarship work with OCaml and Coq, he fell immediatly in love with the language. Since 2009, he has been using Scala on a daily basis to develop the Rudder project.

François is an active member of the Paris Scala User Group and has given Scala talks on several occasions.
